New Hope & Ivyland Railroad Opens New Restroom Facilities at their New Hope Station.

For years our "historically accurate" restrooms challenged passengers...no longer! The grand new restrooms "down at the station" look like they belong in a five star hotel.

New Hope, PA, September 3, 2009 — The New Hope & Ivyland Railroad, long recognized as one of Bucks county's most interesting attractions, is proud to announce the opening of their new grand modern lavatory facilities. After much hard work by our dedicated employees, the station has finally upgraded from what was a historically accurate, all be it miserable facility, to new elegant restrooms.

The Railroad has made many improvements throughout the years, to its rolling stock, track, and buildings yet over the past 116 years has only made two upgrades to its restroom facilities.

From 1891 until 1932 the railroad, like most other homes in Pennsylvania, had a primitive "out house" which is still preserved on the far southeast corner of our property. In 1932, the Railroad decided it was necessary to keep up with technology and installed indoor plumbing into the Station and built the rudimentary facility that had been in continuous use until this year. Needless to say that bathrooms have come a long way since 1932, and the railroad decided that sometimes "historical accuracy" is not always the way to go and new modern clean facilities needed to be built. In fact, it was decided that the Railroad would go over the top and create facilities that would be so impressive that it would wipe away all memories of the restrooms.

The Railroad is now pleased to boast what may be "the most elegant, clean and user friendly restroom facilities in all of New Hope, perhaps all of Pennsylvania."

During your next visit to New Hope, please take the time to stop by and visit our new restrooms and give them a flush.

Historic passenger trains run most days from the New Hope Station located on Bridge Street starting at 11am and continuing on the hour every hour with the last train leaving at 4pm on weekdays and 5pm on weekends. Special Fall Foliage, Halloween, and North Pole Express trains, along with Dinner and Wine and Cheese trains operate in addition to our regular 45 minute excursions trains.
